Raw hair is 100% natural hair from donors and requires proper maintenance, therefore the longevity of your raw hair extensions is determined by how you care for it. This goes beyond washing; it starts from how you comb it, what you use to comb it, what product to use, how much product you use, how you store it and ultimately, how you maintain it. That is why we have put together a list of DOs and DONTs that will help on your raw hair journey.
DOs
- Wash and condition your wig regularly – minimum every two weeks if you have worn it consistently for two weeks and used product on it.
- Deep condition your hair regularly – at least once every three weeks
- Use a heat protectant when using heated styling tools to minimize split ends and heat damage which could make your hair frizzy and dry.
- Comb your hair only when needed. Excessive brushing can cause breakage overtime and this will decrease the longevity of your hair.
- Comb your wig from the tips to the roots using a wide toothed comb to detangle - this helps to reduce shedding that could come from knots and tangles in hair
- For wigs, store them in a dry place- either on a mannequin head or in the box
DONTs
- Don't use heat styling tools on your hair without a heat protectant.
- Less is more. Applying too much leave in products to your hair extensions or even using wrong products (serums/pink oil) will only weigh down the hair and leave it greasy.
- Do not sleep with a wet hair. This could cause knotting, which would later lead to breakage.
- If you swim with your wig, always remember to wash off with water afterwards. The chlorine in pools has a drying and damaging effect if not washed off
- Do not cut off the wefts on your hair extensions. If you must, ALWAYS ensure you use a weft sealer afterwards.

HERE'S HOW TO WASH YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS AT HOME.
- Before washing, be sure to brush the hair out completely regardless of the texture, this will ensure that the hair is easier to manage while wet.
- Use Sulfate Free and Paraben Free Shampoo and Conditioner.
- When detangling while wet, always detangle only with the conditioner in, and start from the tip working your way up to the root.
- A wide tooth comb or wet brush should be utilized during this process.
- We strongly recommend the wet brush particularly for our raw curly textures.
- Very thick cream conditioners tend to work best with Indian Hair. Be generous!
- After washing the hair, pat dry to remove excess water and brush through the hair with no product in.
- Apply a small amount of leave in conditioner to infuse moisture. Then add about 2-3 drops of oil. This will seal in the moisture. (You can also opt to use no product as well).
- Air dry naturally or a hooded dryer on low voltage can be used. Blow drying on high heat is not recommended because it could potentially cause strand breakage.
- Apply a generous amount of leave in conditioner every other day or as needed to tame any frizz and infuse any moisture that may have been lost to weather elements.
- Use a heat protectant when applying heat to the hair. Argan oil or the oil of your choice can be used for heat protectant purposes as well.
- If wearing an install, its best to use a silk bonnet at night to lock in the hair's moisture and to prevent breakage as well.
- If you wish to color your Raw Hair extensions please consult a professional colorist to ensure that the right result is obtained and to prevent over processing.
Closures & Frontals
- Please have a hair professional bleach your knots. But remember,
- Avoid brushing through the hair very often because it may loosen the knots and contribute to increased shedding as well.
